Several years ago, I read a book entitled, The Unquenchable Worshipper: Coming Back to the Heart of Worship, by Matt Redman. I was impressed by this little book and subsequently wrote a series of devotions for my own reflection on its themes. I would like to share them with you through Fluffy-Duck over the next weeks. I hope they bless you. (BTW I maintained the author’s spelling of “worshipper” because he is English and that is how the English spell the word. It also makes me look cosmopolitan.)
The Unquenchable Worshipper…gathers beneath the shadow of the cross, where an undying devotion took the Son of God to His death. Alive now in the power of His resurrection, this worshipper responds to such an outpouring with an unquenchable offering of his own. He refuses to be dampened, discouraged or distracted in his quest to glorify God.
The heart of God loves a persevering worshipper who, though overwhelmed by many troubles, is overwhelmed even more by the beauty of God.
Whatever trials lie ahead in this life, unquenchable worshippers are found with a song of undying worship on their lips.
Prayer:
O God, make us know your awesome power to confront all our challenges with praise. Help us to honor you, even in the midst of things that we would never desire to experience, with a song of worship on our lips and let our worship be unquenchable as we lead others to that very same place.
